The Fraunhofer IOF in Jena conducts application-oriented research in photonics and develops innovative optical systems for controlling light. The range of services covers the entire photonic process chain from opto-mechanical and opto-electronic system design to the production of customer-specific solutions. In the field of imaging and sensor technology, it develops optical measurement processes and systems according to customer-specific requirements. These include optical 3D imaging measurement systems for a wide range of applications. At GPEC 2024, Fraunhofer IOF will be presenting a combination of the mobile 3D handheld scanner goSCOUT3D with a robot dog (Boston Dynamics), called Spot. The sensor head and robot unit enables mobile, high-resolution 3D measurements of complex objects and scenes, such as crime scenes and accident situations. Spot enables the goSCOUT3D to move autonomously through the measurement scenarios at a constant scanning speed and distance, thus ensuring greater efficiency, reproducibility of results and shorter measurement times.
